Came the assassins on the eve
of the world’s whimpering end
it was riding a star-crossed manifold
with unfinished business stamped across
the faceless bovine nation
who shook their meaty fists
at a coalsmudged empyrean
Came the humanity as a faltering memory
an imp shadow, immeasurable error
as antimatter, a snake eating its own throat
Inverted under the weight,
the collective horror of its undoing
An exhortation from hypocrite pulpits,
Shouted in symbols and archaic tongue,
audible from the shell-pocked balustrades
And poised to leap from the minarets
as folly and entertainment
Those citizens with black mirrors aloft,
transfixed and demanding recognition
wasted on hungry eyes en masse
about who was carrying the most prolific sign
who had the wittiest meme
or whose pixelated
moment got
the most likes
Came the assassins on all fours,
drooling and thirsty
pirouetting in folly,
Jaws agape in anticipation
For a new lease on hallowed land
Knuckles curated on the hottop
Sneering & gnashing steely grins
portending supplication
for absent omnipresent overlords
bathed in Narcissus’s steely gaze
Progeny of the wrong race, creed and color
abused, ignored and starved
ancestors afflicted
“forgive us our trespasses” a lie
on the lips of suicidal choirboys
sodomized and speechless
under crumbling steeples
where Popes on ropes
dangled aloft prancing nuns
where puppet Aryan Pigmen
raised their guns high
with their dog whistles blaring
henchmen goose stepping
unto the great unknown
the feast of fear
responsible for the
whole abattoir charade.
Came the assassins,
ululating their childhood demons
in the elevator door
Demanding respect, attention,
some common fucking decency
Came the accidental assassins
Setting upon the Catholic catcaller
basketball captain
butt buster
beer chugger
cockswinging freeballer
breathing his preternatural Supreme fire
sneering lifeblood defiance and denial
for his rapeking and savior
with the afterbirth
entrails and placenta of victims not yet born
dripping in mucosa rivulets
onto the earth’s fisheye
birdseye
pigstye
firefly
sham and
shadow.
